The original cast of misfits
Review of the first season of misfits.

Misfits is a British science fiction comedy-drama television show, on E4, about a group of young offenders sentenced to work in a community service program, where they obtain supernatural powers after a strange electrical storm. The show follows them as they discover there new powers and are faced with new problems to overcome, whilst dealing with there powers.

An online review by The Guardian's Richard Vine said that it was "confident enough to operate in its own universe and set up something new" and that it was aimed at slowly presenting us the "real people" behind a seemingly "tabloid stereotype" of the "ASBO teenager", That's why i believe that misfits would appeal to the younger generation, not only does it include violence, sex and some elements of dark comedy(things younger people tend to be interested in) but it allows younger people to relate to it. The stereotype ASBO teenager is presented through the group of misfits however the group all have different problems, allowing a wider range of people to be able to relate to the show. Its also the idea of having these powers and trying to 'fit in' and deal with their problems, the title of the show misfits emphasises this. This would definitely different appeal to the younger generation, however it may appeal to adults who lived in a deprived area, like the estate shown on the show. this is because the shows creates this stereotypical view of estate life.
